By Whisky Malaysia Editorial Team5 min read

The Hibiki price in Malaysia starts at RM530–RM1,179 for Japanese Harmony, the bottle most people buy (October 2026). The 21 Year Old costs RM3,991–RM6,600, and the rare 17 Year Old sells for RM4,388–RM5,164. Most shops price Harmony near the low end, so you rarely need to pay the top figure.

In short, Hibiki Harmony sits in the same band as Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve. The aged bottles, however, cost more than most single malts sold here.

What is a fair Hibiki price in Malaysia?

Japanese whisky has the widest price spreads in Malaysia, and Hibiki is no exception. For example, one specialist lists Harmony at RM1,179, while most others ask RM530–RM570. So the cluster is the better guide.

  • Japanese Harmony: most shops ask about RM530–RM570.
  • 21 Year Old: listings split into two groups, near RM4,000 and near RM5,900–RM6,600.
  • 17 Year Old: only three listings, so there is no real cluster.

Also watch for shop pages that show a high "regular" price next to a "sale" price. For instance, one shop lists Harmony at RM1,064 regular and RM530 on sale. The sale figure is the real price. In addition, a few listings use slightly different names, so check that the label says "Japanese Harmony" before you compare.

Hibiki history and style

Suntory launched Hibiki in 1989 to mark the company's 90th anniversary. Since then, Suntory describes it as Japan's most highly awarded blended whisky.

The 24-faceted bottle is part of the brand. According to the House of Suntory Hibiki page, each facet stands for one of the 24 micro-seasons of the Japanese year. The label uses Echizen washi paper, too.

Inside, Hibiki blends malt whisky from Yamazaki and Hakushu with grain whisky from Chita. As a result, it tastes softer and rounder than either malt alone. Suntory's notes also mention Mizunara oak, which adds a gentle sandalwood touch.

Hibiki carries the "Japanese whisky" label under the Japan Spirits & Liqueurs Makers Association standard. That means every drop was distilled, aged for at least three years and bottled in Japan. Our Japanese whisky guide explains why that matters.

The Hibiki range in Malaysia

You will find three Hibiki bottles in Malaysian shops. The notes below paraphrase Suntory's own tasting notes where they exist.

Hibiki Japanese Harmony

Harmony is the no-age-statement core bottle at 43%. It is floral, honeyed and very smooth. Because of that, it suits both sipping and highballs.

Nose

Rose, lychee, a hint of rosemary and sandalwood.

Palate

Honey sweetness, candied orange peel and white chocolate.

Finish

Soft and long, with a touch of Mizunara oak.

Hibiki 17 Year Old

The 17 is now hard to find. It no longer appears on Suntory's international Hibiki site, and in Malaysia only three shops list it. As an older blend, it is deeper and oakier than Harmony. Buy it only from a shop you trust.

Hibiki 21 Year Old

The 21 is dark, rich and fruity. Suntory lists gold medals for it at the International Spirits Challenge in 2025 and 2026.

Nose

Cooked fruit, blackberry, ripe banana and caramel.

Palate

Sandalwood, honeycomb, dried apricot and Mizunara oak.

Finish

Long and rich, with an incense-like note.

Where to buy Hibiki in Malaysia

Hibiki is easiest to find at specialist online shops. These include whisky.my, Wine Warehouse, Whiskery, Kanpai, Nomu and Goodstuff. Stock of the 17 and 21 changes often, and some shops sell them as pre-orders. So compare the Hibiki price at a few Malaysia retailers before you pay. Our where to buy whisky guide lists trusted shops and how they check age.

How to drink Hibiki

Harmony is gentle enough to drink neat, but it also makes a classic Japanese highball. Fill a tall glass with ice, add one part Hibiki, then top with three or four parts cold soda. Our whisky cocktails guide covers the method step by step. By contrast, the 21 is best neat or with a drop of water, in a nosing glass.

Whatever you choose, sip slowly, drink water alongside and never drink and drive.

Hibiki price Malaysia: quick summary

Frequently asked questions

How much is Hibiki Harmony in Malaysia?

The Hibiki Harmony price in Malaysia is RM530–RM1,179 in October 2026. However, most shops sit around RM530–RM570. The top of the range comes from one store that prices far above the rest.

Is Hibiki 17 still available in Malaysia?

A few shops still list it at RM4,388–RM5,164. Even so, one listing was out of stock and another was a pre-order. Hibiki 17 also no longer appears on the House of Suntory website, so treat it as a collector's bottle.

Why is Hibiki 21 sometimes cheaper than Hibiki 17?

It comes down to supply. Hibiki 21 shows up at more shops, so the lowest typical listing is lower. Because the 17 is scarce, the few shops that have it ask more.

What is Hibiki made from?

Hibiki blends malt and grain whiskies from Suntory's Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita distilleries. Suntory's blenders then marry them into one smooth, honeyed style.

Is Hibiki good for a highball?

Yes, Japanese Harmony works well in a highball. Use one part whisky to three or four parts chilled soda. That said, many people sip the older bottles neat.

Why does the Hibiki bottle have 24 sides?

Suntory says the 24 facets stand for the 24 micro-seasons of the Japanese year. It makes Hibiki one of the easiest bottles to spot on a shelf.

How do I avoid fake Hibiki in Malaysia?

Buy from an established shop, and scan the excise tax stamp with the Customs Setem Cukai app. Also be wary of prices far below the typical range. See our where to buy guide.
