This alcohol disclaimer explains how to use Whisky Malaysia. Our site is for adults aged 21 and over, the legal minimum age to buy alcohol in Malaysia. We share facts and prices for information only, and we do not encourage anyone to drink. By using this site, you agree to read our content with this alcohol disclaimer in mind.
Our alcohol disclaimer in short
- This site is for adults aged 21 and over.
- We do not encourage drinking, and we do not sell alcohol.
- Prices are ranges, not quotes. Always confirm with the retailer.
- Nothing here is legal, tax or medical advice.
- Brand names belong to their owners, and we have no link with them.
For adults aged 21 and over
Under the Food (Amendment) Regulations 2016, 21 is the legal minimum age to buy alcohol in Malaysia. Enforcement was reported from December 2017. Then, on 16 October 2018, the Health Ministry announced the 21 rule, as The Star reported. If you are under 21, please leave this site. Also, never buy alcohol for anyone who is underage.
We do not encourage drinking
Whisky Malaysia exists to help adults who already drink make informed choices. For example, we explain prices, laws and how to spot fake bottles. However, we never suggest that anyone should start drinking or drink more. Choosing not to drink is always a good choice. Because of this, our alcohol disclaimer covers every guide, list and price table on the site.
Respect for religious and personal choices
Many Malaysians do not drink alcohol for religious, health or personal reasons. We respect that choice. Under state Syariah laws, Muslims may not drink or sell alcohol, and many shops sell alcohol only to non-Muslims. So our content is not aimed at Muslims, and we never market to them.

Drink responsibly and never drink and drive
If you choose to drink, do so in moderation. Eat before and while you drink, and drink water as well. In addition, plan your way home before you start. In Malaysia, the drink-driving limit is 50mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood. It came in with the Road Transport (Amendment) Act 2020 on 23 October 2020. Under section 45A, offenders face up to two years in jail and a fine of up to RM30,000, as the Daily Express reported. Still, the safest limit is zero, so take a taxi or e-hailing ride instead.
Also, avoid alcohol if you are pregnant, take medicine that reacts with it, or have a health condition. If you are worried about your own drinking or a friend's, talk to a doctor or a government health clinic.
Prices are a guide only
Our prices are ranges from listed retail prices we checked at Malaysian retailers in October 2026. They are not offers, and we do not sell anything. Prices change often, and promotions, stock and bottle size all affect what you pay. In addition, discounters may sell parallel imports or other bottle sizes. So always confirm the price with the retailer before you buy. Our whisky price list shows the date we last checked each range.
Not legal, tax or medical advice
We summarise laws, duty rates and duty-free rules from public sources such as Customs orders and news reports. However, rules change, and our summaries may not fit your case. So treat this content as general information only. For legal or tax questions, ask the relevant authority or a qualified adviser. For health questions, speak to a doctor. This alcohol disclaimer also applies to our duty free whisky guide and our tax pages.
Trademarks and no affiliation
All brand names, logos and trademarks belong to their owners. We use them only to identify products. We have no business link with any brand, distributor or shop on this site. Also, we take no payment for coverage and use no affiliate links, as our about page explains.
External links
We link to outside sites, such as government pages, news reports and distillery sites, so you can check our sources. However, we do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content. A link is not an endorsement. If a link no longer works, please let us know through our contact page.
Accuracy and corrections
We work hard to keep every fact correct and dated. Even so, mistakes can happen, and we cannot accept liability for any loss that comes from using this site. If you spot an error, tell us and we will check it. We update this alcohol disclaimer when our policies change.
