Glen Grant history in brief
Brothers John and James Grant founded The Glen Grant distillery in Rothes, Speyside, in 1840. According to the official Glen Grant story, James "The Major" Grant took over in 1872. He then doubled the size of the distillery.
The Major also brought in the tall, slender pot stills and water-cooled purifiers that still shape the whisky. These let only the lightest vapours pass, so the spirit comes out clean and fruity. Later, in 1886, he planted a Victorian garden with plants from his travels. Today that garden is a big part of the brand's story.
Two famous master distillers
Dennis Malcolm was born on the distillery grounds in 1946. He started as an apprentice cooper in 1961 and became Master Distiller in 2006. In 2024, Greig Stables took over the role. Glen Grant now belongs to Campari Group.

Note that the 12 and the 15 Batch Strength each had only one price point when we checked. Also, whisky.my showed the 12 as out of stock. So the Glen Grant price in Malaysia for those two may move more than the rest.
Glen Grant range sold in Malaysia
The notes below follow the brand's own tasting notes, in short form. Most of the range matures in a mix of ex-bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry casks.
Glen Grant Arboralis (RM268–RM278)
The entry bottle, with no age statement. It has the lowest Glen Grant price in Malaysia, and it suits highballs well.
Floral and fruity, with raisins, honeysuckle and lemon.
Oak, butterscotch, dried fruit and light spice.
Long, with malty vanilla, pear and citrus.
Glen Grant 10 (RM279–RM330)
A classic Speyside 10 year old, and great value for its age. It is bright, fruity and easy to sip.
Ripe orchard fruit.
Orchard fruit, vanilla and butterscotch.
Long and complex.
Glen Grant 12 (RM349)
Bottled at 43%, so it has a little more body than the 10. Expect a mix of delicate and rich notes.
Honey, pear and apple, with almond and citrus.
Apple pie crust, caramel and vanilla.
Lingering fruit with a touch of spice.
Glen Grant 15 Batch Strength (RM398)
This one matures only in first-fill ex-bourbon casks. It is bottled at 50% and not chill-filtered, so it feels fuller and silkier. Add a few drops of water to open it up.
Floral, with citrus, apple, honeydew melon and caramel.
Honey, vanilla, apricot jam, malt and spice.
Long, with honey, apple and soft spice.
Glen Grant 18 (RM679–RM728)
Aged in ex-bourbon barrels and remade hogsheads, and bottled at 43%. It shows how the light spirit holds up after long ageing. The brand lists malted caramel, vanilla and raisins as its key notes, with a long finish. For an 18 year old, the Glen Grant price in Malaysia is low.

Where to buy Glen Grant in Malaysia
whisky.my and W Wine & Liquor Warehouse carry most of the range. Jaya Grocer also lists the 10 year old online. Stock of the 12 and 15 can be patchy, so check before you go. For more shops and delivery tips, read our guide on where to buy whisky in Malaysia.
How to drink Glen Grant
Because Glen Grant is light and fruity, it works in many ways. Try the 10 neat first, or with a splash of water. Arboralis makes a crisp highball with soda and lots of ice, which suits our hot weather. Then save the 15 and 18 for slow sipping in a tulip glass. Our whisky glasses guide explains why shape matters, and how to drink whisky covers water and ice.
How Glen Grant compares
For budget-minded buyers, the Glen Grant price in Malaysia is hard to beat. For example, the 10 costs less than a Glenlivet 12 or a Singleton of Glen Ord 12. If you want something richer, though, a sherried malt like Aberlour may suit you better. To see more options by budget, visit our whisky price guide or our list of the best single malts in Malaysia.
