A short history of Aberlour
James Fleming started building Aberlour in 1879, and production began within a year. He was a farmer's son who became a grain merchant, selling barley to local distillers. Then he bought land at the edge of the village with a natural spring called St Drostan's Well. That spring gave his new distillery fresh water.
